A Good Time to Learn to Fly is NOW

00October 8, 2009 in Blog

So you've always dreamed of being a pilot, since you were a child?  Now, however, with stories in the news about some airlines and their financial problems, you may be wondering if it is a good time to learn to fly.

To quickly summarize, this is an excellent time to learn to fly. The aviation industry has traditionally been one of ups and downs, good times and bad. After 9/11 there was a significant drop worldwide as people flew less. However, in recent years we've seen a relatively buoyant market for pilots — better in some countries than others and better with some airlines than others, but generally good.

What does that mean to you, looking to start your training now or soon in the future? The people who oversee the recruitment for airlines worldwide are very positive about good times for airlines in the future. What's more, that there may even be a shortage of pilots soon.

What do airlines want from their new pilot candidates for hire? Obviously you must have the ratings and certificates that are required.  And you must have flight hours, which takes some time to accumulate.  A good way to get those additional flight hours in by becoming a flight instructor. For each hour you are training a student in flight is one hour added to your own flight log book. And you're getting paid for it, instead of having to pay for renting that airplane!

So yes, now is an excellent time to start your training, in order for you to be fully prepared as airlines increase their hiring. Contact Phoenix East Aviation to learn more about what you will need and when you can start training. Check out www.pea.com.
