Aircraft Manufacturers – One of the Big Ones

So you want to be a pilot — probably even hope to have a great career as a professional pilot, if you are reading this blog. Then you also most likely want to learn about aircraft — and who manufactures them. You may already know what aircraft Boeing and Airbus manufacture; their new aircraft are in the news regularly.

Have you also heard of Embraer? Did you know Embraer is the world’s largest manufacturer of commercial jets up to 120 seats?  As a newly-hired pilot, you will most likely be flying er aircraft, so Embraer may be especially important to you. The company is based in Brazil and is one of Brazil’s leading exporters. Thier headquarters are located in Sao Jose dos Campos, Sao Paulo. Embraer also has offices, industrial operations and customer service facilities in Brazil, the U.S., Portugal, China, France and Singapore. It was founded in 1969 and develops, designs and manufacturers aircraft for many different segment of the industry, including commercial aviation (airlines and charter companies), executive aviation (corporate fleets) and governments. Embraer has a workforce of approximately 24,000 people and a firm order backlog of over US$19 billion.
