Airline Pilot Slary Range
Tuesday, January 10, 2012
Airline pilot salaries depends on many things: the airline the pilot flies for -- airlines have different salary scales, the academy from which the flight training was completed, your educational background, your experience as a pilot, and also the type of aircraft you fly....generally speaking, pilots of large aircraft are paid more than pilots of smaller aircraft. And pilots on international airlines are known to earn more those working on domestic routes.
The median airline pilot slary in the U.S. is $145,000 annually, according to salary surveys. This includes both first officers and senior captains. When an airline pilot has approximately 10 to 12 years of airline experience, salary will typically be in the $130,000 range, on average, and depending on the airline, of course. For U.S. airlines' senior captains flying international routes, some pilots make $220,000 or more a year.
Though salaries and hiring of airline pilots were affected during the economic recession in some countries, according to job market experts, the future prospects for airline pilots is excellent. In addition to salary, airline pilots get several allowances, bonuses, free travel for their family etc.
