China Express Air Buys Jets
A private regional airline in China, China Express Air, has placed an order for six Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft. The order was apparently placed late last year, but not announced until this week.
The order, which is the first CRJ900 purchase in China, is expected to be worth USD $264 million, according to Bombardier. And if options for five additional aircraft are converted to firm orders, the total deal would be worth nearly USD $500 million.
Bombardier has also announed a memorandum of understanding with China’s AVIC International Leasing Company to finance commercial airplane sales globally. Last year Bombardier partnered with Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China to develop aircraft, in competition with Boeing and Airbus.
Bombardier is the world’s third largest civil aircraft manufacturer.
