Do You Dream of Flying to Exciting Foreign Places?

If you dream about piloting a jumbo jet to exciting places in the world, you might be interested in what some airline pilots think about great locations to fly. Recently, captains for British Airways were asked this question and responded about their favorite routes in the world. Comments were as follows: London City to New York "The view as you come down over Manhattan is amazing...spectacular view of the whole of New York...you can pick out the Empire State and Chrysler buildings and Central Park...." Another captain loves flying from Rio de Janeiro: "After an easterly take-off from Rio...you see views of Corcovado and Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf Mountain and the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon."
A third captain really had a remarkable story: "I was on the last supersonic flight from Edinburgh to London on Concorde. Thousands of people had gathered around the airport.....we reached 29,000 feet in four minutes 50 seconds. After that we went to 60,000 feet in 10 minutes, then cruised down over the North Sea. Over Essex, England, I met two other Concordes, one coming from New York.... We landed all three, one after the other, at the airport where we were greeted by tens of thousands of people."
And another BA captain loves to recall flying in the south of France: "The approach to Nice is a challenge because of the high ground around the airport. This means you come in low along the coast and fly over all the luxury yachts floating in the sparkling, turquoise seas...."
