Gulfstream Business Jets Book Record Number of Orders
General Dyanamics, which builds the well-known Gulfstream business jets, received more orders for their business jets in the third quarter (July-August-September) 2010 than in any comparable period since mid-2008.
One-third of those orders came from Latin American and Asian corporations, charter companies and high-asset individuals. In the third quarter of this year, 23 Gufstream aircraft were delivered, up from 17 in the same period of 2009. General Dynamics indicated the aircraft delivered were 17 large planes andsix midsized ones. The new Gulfstream G250 jet, which has a mid-sized cabin, is expected to be ready for the first deliveries next year.
Cessna Aircraft Company, which manufactures the popular Citation jets, said they had shipped 26 business jets in the third quarter of this year. Cessna has recently also announced plans to deliver the first of its new model:The new, faster Citation X, which holds nine passengers plus crew, will begin delivery in 2012. The company has already booked over 200 orders for the new aircraft.
