India's Airlines Posting Impressive Growth

During the period June to October 2009, India's domestic air travel returned to impressive growth. In October, air traffic was up nearly 10% compared to the same month in 2007.
According to Indian government statistical data, Kingfisher Airlines continued to be the leading airline with nearly 21% of the market, but Jet Airways, with nearly 20% and JetLite with approximately 8% were all considerably larger than previously. NACIL, which includes both Air India and Indian Airlines) had approximately 19% of the market. Both IndiGo with 14% and Spicejet with 12% of the market maintained their market shares.
The biggest gainer, though, so far this year, has been GoAir. From a small 2.5% of the market in January, they grew to capture over 5% by October. Another small airlines, Paramount, has nearly 2% of domestic market share.
