More Than Two Million New Aviation Jobs Forecasted
Earlier this year, a new aviation personnel study was developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). More than two million jobs worldwide were forecasted for pilots, maintenance personnel and air traffic controllers because of the expected growth of commercial air traffic and the retirement of qualified pilots and other professionals between now and 2030.
This ICAO study compared the number of aviation professionals worldwide that will need to be trained annually with the training capacity of exisitng facilities. These figures conclude a shortfall of training capacity of 160,000 pilots.
What does this mean to you if you wish to be an airline pilot, but have not yet started training?
It means some important things: First, if you are a trained pilot, you will be in demand and will be able to find a job throughout your career worldwide. Second, when the demand for pilots exceeds the supply — as is expected — those pilots who are well trained will receive higher pay. Third, it also means that if you wish to become a pilot and have an amazing career, then you’d better start your training NOW while flight training academies have room for you!
