Tiger Airways Expands in Asia
Singapore-based discount airline, Tiger Airways, has commenced additional flights to destinations in Thailand — capitalizing on the Thai Open Skies policy. The Tiger Airways destinations of Bangkok, Hatyai and Krabi, Thailand, are in response to increased demand. These additional flights to Thailand are expected to fly more than 100,000 passengers between Singapore and Thailand.
This development follows the recent increase of Tiger Airways flights between Singapore and Phuket, Thailand, earlier this month.
Tiger Airways CEO, Tony Davis, said "The Thai aviation policy of Open Skies has made this possible, and it has resulted in a big boost to business and tourism. The growing demand has encouraged us to add even more flights from August to these hot destinations."
Jetstar, another low-cost airline, is expected to introduce a thrice-weekly Sydney-Phuket service starting this November.
