JAA Pilot Licenses

Who is the JAA?
The Joint Aviation Authority (JAA) is an associated body of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), representing the civil aviation regulatory authorities of the European countries who have agreed to co-operate in developing and implementing common safety regulatory standards and procedures. This co-operation is intended to provide high and consistent standards of safety and a "level playing-field" for competition in Europe. Much emphasis is also placed on harmonizing the JAA regulations with those of the USA.

I've had seriously good fun at Phoenix, and a great opportunity to train other pilots after getting the flight instructor ticket, all in a really nice and relaxed manner. After 5 months of instructing I got a job as a first officer on the Saab 340 for a regional airline in Europe. And what's most important, I think, I had absolutely no problems jumping from the Piper Cherokee into a 3 times faster, 10 times bigger aeroplane. This was the big test, I suppose, and one that made me think different about the training I got in Phoenix, changing 180 degrees my feelings towards those 'not so relaxed' instructors I had the privilege to fly with during my training.
