Scandinavian Program

A program that continues to be especially popular with Scandinavian students is the Phoenix East Aviation and Scandinavian cooperative pilot training program. It includes all ground school and flight training toward achievement of the FAA Private Pilot License and Commercial Pilot License with Instrument and Multi-Engine ratings. In addition, students under this Phoenix East Aviation/Scandinavian partnership work to achieve their Certified Flight Instructor Rating, Certified Flight Instructor Instrument Rating, and Multi-Engine Instructor Rating.

Upon completion of this program of study, students are eligible for employment with Phoenix East Aviation, Inc. as paid instructors logging flight hours and building valuable experience, which will qualify them to meet the minimum flight hour requirement for most Scandinavian airlines.

Phoenix East Aviation is a nationally accredited aviation academy – one of only nine independent flight training academies in the U.S. Our Scandinvavian partner is an approved European school that also provides students the opportunity to obtain a government stipend, if qualified. In this program, student loans are available when the students returns home to convert their Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) licenses to JAA licenses.

Many Scandinavian students start their ATPL theory in the second year with Phoenix East Aviation, Inc. in Daytona Beach, Florida, and then complete the JAA ATPL when they return home. The complete program from Private Pilot through Instructor ratings and then employment as a Phoenix East Aviation instructor pilot typically requires 2.5-3 years. This time includes the crediting program to JAA license!

My name is Jason Prestigiacomo and I’m a First Officer for United Express Airlines, operated by Air Wisconsin Airlines. I’m currently based in Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport flying the CRJ. This assignment was made easier because of the flight training I received at Phoenix East Aviation, Daytona Beach, Florida. Career instructors like other flight schools do not run the flight department at PEA. Former airline pilots run it. These pilots have built up thousands of hours in some of the world’s largest and most advanced airliners and know first hand how to make the transition into the airline industry. All of the training is based upon airline standards, which makes things much easier when you step into your first airline or corporate job.

I looked into other flight schools and selected PEA because of their laid-back operation and job placement statistics. I attained all of my certificates and ratings at PEA, and then took a job with them as a Flight Instructor in 2001. If your goal is to become a Boeing 747 Captain or just a weekend pilot, Phoenix East Aviation is the school for you.
